Carolyn Krüger, M.A.

Art Psychotherapist, Family Therapist i.A. (DGSF), Psychotherapy (HeilprG)

I am offering community-based therapy and counseling services for children and families in Berlin Kreuzberg. My creative therapy approach stems from my training in both psychodynamic art psychotherapy and systemic family therapy. I integrate methods from a variety of the arts, such as visual art (drawing, painting), improvisation theatre, pottery or creative writing. However, I know that some people prefer to express themselves nonverbally, while others feel more comfortable talking – both of which are fine. When working with families or couples it can also be helpful to use systemic methods, as they sometimes feel more tangible when trying to understand and change unhelpful dynamics.

Throughout therapy sessions and psychosocial projects I repeatedly observed art’s potential in facilitating communication on a symbolic and nonverbal level. Therefore I am convinced that creativity can provide palpable and effective means, as a visual language that is generally spoken and understood by everyone.

Besides offering therapy, I cooperate with different institutions and organisations in order to support therapists, social workers and pedagogues through trainings and seminars. I work and consult with colleagues of the international creating links network whenever possible.
